Wood’s Portland Oregon office is looking for an Industrial Hygienist to join an experienced team of industrial hygienists here Portland, Oregon. You will be providing full-time industrial hygiene support for one of Wood’s Fortune 100 clients in the Portland metro area under the direction of Senior Industrial Hygienists in a collaborative team environment.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Perform industrial hygiene assessments for potential health hazards at client workplaces including evaluations for: chemicals, particulates, noise, asbestos, ventilation (basic knowledge of industrial hygiene instrumentation is needed
- Conduct industrial hygiene exposure assessments including walk-through surveys, inspections, exposure monitoring and hazard control evaluations
- Prepare concise technical reports on the assessments conducted and provide recommendations to eliminate or reduce workplace hazards
- Interpret routine industrial hygiene requirements and regulations
- Assist Senior Industrial Hygienists and client EHS management staff in coordinating, planning and executing projects

Key Responsibilities:
The position will involve environmental remediation including, but not limited to remedial design of treatment systems, report preparation, support for water and wastewater permitting and compliance activities, contamination assessment, construction, and operation and maintenance support. This position offers the opportunity to work with a large and diverse team of design engineers to address complex environmental challenges executing the following roles/responsibilities:
- Prepare work plans, sampling and analysis plans, feasibility studies, and remedial action plans
- Prepare environmental permit applications (e.g., air permitting, wastewater discharge permitting, etc.)
- Prepare engineering evaluations, feasibility studies, treatment systems designs, and develop cost estimates
- Prepare and/or review plans, specifications, and special provisions for construction projects
- Complete projects in a timely and accurate manner. Work outside of normal work hours may be required on occasion.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Review and comment on contractor submittals
- Track payment applications, requests for information, change order requests and general construction phase submittals
- Conduct construction closeout activities including final inspections, completion of punch lists, record drawings, and contract closeout
- Daytime travel and overnight (up to a week or more) travel required, as needed
- Overtime required, as needed
- Have and maintain a valid driver's license, work outdoors in various weather conditions and frequently lift up to 35 pounds

Key Requirements:
- Have a thorough knowledge of HVAC building systems, Industrial ventilation, power, and energy systems; experience with plumbing, fire protection, and electrical building systems a plus
- Calculate heating/cooling loads and energy consumption using energy modeling
- Survey of existing mechanical systems
- Design duct distribution and mechanical systems

Key Responsibilities
The position is predominately office support and will include assisting with all aspects of environmental and remedial investigations of hazardous waste sites, including but not limited to report writing, data evaluation, subcontractor coordination and oversight, permitting, and health and safety compliance.
