Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Lead CAD Designer to join our team in Wichita, KS. Wood is a global, top-ranked ENR design firm looking to grow its Kansas operation and seeks a talented CAD professional to join its team. Wood’s Wichita Office is a multi-discipline engineering/environmental team of 10+ staff, located in one of the most affordable cities in the US.
First and foremost, the candidate must be proficient in Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D and possess experience on civil infrastructure design projects to prepare construction drawings for the water/wastewater group. This includes knowledge of surfaces, profiles, and pipe networks. In addition, the candidate will have the opportunity to work closely with engineers on a variety of infrastructure projects, including drainage/flood control and environmental projects.
The candidate will be responsible for all CAD plan production out of the Kansas operation, working with and assigning various tasks to Junior CAD drafters and Engineers as workload increases. The candidate must be able to clearly communicate with other members of the CAD team and provide training as necessary to ensure consistent and quality deliverables.
The candidate will improve means and methods for delivery of its contract documents. This includes developing and improving existing CAD standards, quality control, delivery, presentation and efficient execution for all phases of a project from concept to project closeout.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will lead the multi-disciplined engineering CAD design department providing engineering contract drawings and models for construction. The selected candidate will also be essential in developing efficient administration of the CAD system, files, and standards. The Candidate will assign the work of the department’s drafters.
- Support water and wastewater projects and other civil infrastructure projects
- Ability to effectively develop and implement CAD standards and drafting uniformity with staff
- Design or redesign drawings from general written or verbal specifications from engineers
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems with existing drawings and make corrections as requested by the engineer
- Convey results and findings by means of oral discussions or graphic-based presentations
- Maintain database of design records for future reference

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking multiple qualified Field Archaeologists for our upcoming busy field season. The projects are expected to last through Winter 2019, are diverse in complexity, and involve archaeological survey and excavation investigations throughout the Midwest and Southeastern United States as well as Texas. Key Responsibilities
- Assist on surveys to identify and document archaeological sites as well as excavations to test the National Register site eligibility and large scale field and laboratory investigations to mitigate adverse impacts to significant archaeological resources
- Perform pedestrian reconnaissance, shovel tests, test unit excavation, mechanical excavation monitoring, as well as site documentation and artifact analyses and are supervised by a Field and/or Laboratory Director
- On archaeological field investigations, assist historic and prehistoric artifact identification, document features and other archaeological deposits, prepare site descriptions, photograph features and artifacts, prepare sketch maps of sites, and complete field forms completely and accurately
- On laboratory investigations, wash and process recovered materials and analytical samples, label and package artifacts, perform supervised analysis, and conduct computerized data entry
- May help in report production through preparation of digitized graphics, preparation of tables summarizing artifact data and other information, and preparing text for sections of the report that document the results of archaeological investigations
