    Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Mid Level Mechanical/Piping Designer/Drafter. This position reports to the Mechanical/Piping Department Manager as well as the Project Team Lead.     • Prepare Mechanical and Piping drawings using 2D and 3D Cad tools
    • Develop layout of Process equipment systems using 2D and 3D software packages to produce drawings from concept through construction issue
    • Design and modeling of piping systems using 2D and 3D CAD software packages and produce drawings
    • Formulate design solutions and layouts of Mechanical and Piping components utilizing P&ID’s, Vendor documentation, and piping material specifications
    • Coordinates designs with other piping team members and with other disciplines
    • Design or select pipe support components as they pertain to piping design layouts
    • Evaluate vendor equipment as it pertains to layout designs, assist with equipment specifications and orientations
    • Examine and validate drawings for quality and compliance
    • Examine, validate and coordinate other discipline designs for compliance with layouts
    • Work with laser scans to get “as-built” information and work into design
    • Visit Client plant sites to evaluate design options and take necessary site measurements
    • Adhere to Company and Client specifications and standards

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Associates Degree or 2-year College coarse work preferred in Mechanical Design and Drafting
    • Minimum of 5 years and maximum of 15 years progressive experience in a consulting engineering environment performing Mechanical/Piping designs      
    • Minimum of 5 years of 2D AutoCAD experience and 3 years of 3D CAD experience
    • Knowledge or experience of piping materials and design
    • Knowledge of pipe support design
    • Experience with equipment design, layout, and installation
    • MS Office suite skills is required
    • Experience with or willingness to learn Advanced 3D CAD software platforms such as Aveva PDMS or E3D, Intergraph PDS or SmartPlant, or others      
    • Experience with Navisworks or Design Review software
    • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship




    • Must be able to physical move about in an Industrial Plant and be able to climb ladders, stairs, and access tight places
    • Periodic travel to project site is required. Frequency may vary pending project
    • Must be able to take field measurements with tape measure, and other electronic measuring devices
