  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking a Junior-Level Environmental Engineer/Scientist/Chemist to perform, under the direction of a project manager, environmental field investigations, report writing and other project related tasks associated with site investigation activities at a dynamic and evolving project site located in the Grafton County/Lebanon, New Hampshire area.


    This position will require residence within the Grafton County/Lebanon, NH area.    


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Conduct field work under the direction of a senior scientist to investigate and monitor the nature and extent of soil vapor and indoor air contamination - Field work will include collection and analysis of soil vapor and indoor air using an Inficon Hapsite ER portable GS/MS
    • Maintain the onsite QC analytical program, report analytical results on a daily basis, maintain an excel results database, and perform general maintenance tasks of the analytical instrument
    • Coordinate with Project Chemist on a daily basis

    Skills / Qualifications

    The ideal candidate for this position is an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with a strong desire to learn.


    Required Qualifications:

    • One to two years environmental consulting experience              
    • BS/BA in Geology, Environmental Science, Chemistry or one of the physical or natural sciences
    • Experience in hazardous waste site investigations
    • Ability to move and lift equipment that may weigh 30 lbs. on a daily basis
    • Knowledge of the principles and standards of scientific study, field investigation and sampling, experimentation, research, and documentation
    • Computer literate (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to work effectively with team members as well as independently
    • Strong interpersonal and writing skills are critical
    • OSHA 40 hour Hazardous Waste Site Safety Training (Wood will provide if needed)

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with operation and use of gas chromatographs and/or gas chromatography/mass spectrometers (GC/MS) desired
    • Experience with the collection and analysis of soil vapor and ambient air samples as applied to site investigations desired
    • Previous field experience and OSHA 40 HAZWOPER certified is preferred
