  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking a Mid-Level Industrial Hygienist to join an experienced team of industrial hygienists and other professionals in our Washington and Oregon offices. These positions provide an opportunity to work for multiple clients representing a diversified customer base in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. You will work under the direction of Certified Industrial Hygienists in a collaborative team environment.

     

    Principle Responsibilities:

    • Perform industrial hygiene exposure assessments for potential health hazards at client workplaces inluding evaluations for: chemicals, particulates, noise, asbestos, ventilation (basic knowledge of industrial hygiene instrumentation is needed)
    • Conduct indoor air quality-related assessments including walk-through surveys, mold and moisture intrusion inspections, exposure monitoring and hazard control evaluations
    • Prepare concise technical reports on the assessments conducted and provide recommendations to eliminate or reduce workplace hazards
    • Interpret routine industrial hygiene requirements and regulations
    • Support field projects regionally, nationally and globally with health and safety management and oversight
    • Assist Certified Industrial Hygienists in coordinating, planning and executing projects
    • Responsible for the quality of his/her own work and satisfying client specifications

    Skills / Qualifications

    Education and Skills Required:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in industrial hygiene or related field with industrial hygiene course work completed; Master of Science degree in industrial hygiene preferred
    • Two to five years’ experience performing industrial hygiene assessments in manufacturing or consulting; one year minimum with Master of Science degree
    • Knowledge of industry occupational safety and health regulations for general industry settings
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to work with others at all levels of the organization
    • Ability to work independently and deliver high quality of work on time
    • Ability to work on multiple projects at a time
    • A strong desire and willingness to learn new skills
    • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products and their use (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
    • Must be a US Citizen and able to pass a U.S. Security Clearance and drug test
    • About 10%-50% of travel may be required at times
    • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

    Experience and Skills Preferred:

    • AHERA Asbestos Inspector credentials
    • 40 hour Hazwoper

    Physical Requirements:

    • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment such as, hard hats, ear plugs, safety glasses, respirators, steel-toed boots, fall protection harnesses
    • Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, climb ladders and stand for extended periods of time
