    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Communications Manager (CM) to support our global and business unit internal and external communications strategy through the project management, development and delivery of communications campaigns and plans. 


    Working as part of the business unit team, the role holder will drive the design, development and delivery of imaginative and timely content that supports Wood’s strategy and business plans at global, business unit, regional, and functional levels. 


    Establishing close partnerships with key internal stakeholders, the CM will use their expertise to guide and influence the successful creation of clear and engaging communications, based on strong stakeholder and channel understanding and analysis. Being results-focused, the CM will monitor and measure the impact of messaging in line with objectives.


    The CM will drive engagement with a global community of experts (COE) and marcomms peers across the business units, to support the successful and tailored delivery of campaigns to increase employee engagement, understanding and awareness of Wood and positively impact culture.


    The role is supported by a global COE and/or BU Communications Leads and Advisors and will lead and motivate teams as required.


    Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

    • Works with the business unit Marketing and Communications Director to project manage internal and external communications campaigns that support Wood’s strategy
    • Ensure media engagements are handled effectively and help to raise the profile of Wood’s brand, our expertise and our leaders’ profiles
    • Proactively identify issues where Wood can offer unique insight and work with leaders and relevant teams to help develop our position
    • Designs, develops and delivers engaging campaigns and content that support internal and external communication plans and business objectives
    • Delivers impactful, communications campaigns that cut through the noise and drive employee engagement and the business growth objectives
    • A key member of the internal communications community of practice, supporting effective and timely engagement across this community
    • Maintains and analyses global internal communications channels
    • Supports Wood’s culture and drives employee brand ambassadors through content development and messaging
    • Identifies and develops compelling, relevant stories from around the business, consistently
    • Supports senior leaders to be inspiring communicators and leads the planning and delivery of timely and engaging employee engagement activities

    Working Relationships:

    • Internal: Global, BU and regional communications communities of practice, executive leadership, functional and operational leadership teams
    • External: Media, trade and industry associations, customer PR teams, agencies, emergency response providers (could include ambulance, police, coastguards), suppliers and vendors

    Level of Influence & Decision Making Authority:

    • Project management of internal and external communications campaigns; influencing and responsible for their design, development and delivery

    Skills / Qualifications

    Minimum qualifications:

    • University degree or equivalent in a communications or related field

    Job-specific experience:

    • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a communications and/or marketing role, preferably within the engineering or technical industry - Associated experience in agency, journalism, copy writing deemed equivalent
    • Demonstrable experience in all aspects of internal communications and employee engagement
    • Impeccable writing skills and creativity
    • Ability to translate strategy / complex material into clear communication plans and messaging
    • Confidence in handling media enquiries in a crisis and leading communications approach during emergency response scenarios

    Knowledge of and experience in:

    • Communication methods and channels relevant to a large, complex organization
    • Emergency and crisis media response planning and execution
    • Working in a complex global organization
    • Executive leadership engagement and influence
