  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Designer to join our team in the St. Louis area to support oil and gas / industrial facilities. The successful candidate may be embedded in a client facility and will work as an extension of their staff, or may work out of our offices in Collinsville, Illinois or St. Louis, Missouri.


    The individual must possess a strong work ethic and high degree of flexibility and patience to adjust to changing work priorities and schedules.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Ensure designs are produced in accordance with project, discipline, statutory regulations, good practice and procedural requirements and ensure completion within required man hours and budget
    • Clear and timely communication regarding design change issues
    • Liaison, support and timely transfer of information to other disciplines
    • Input to capital estimates including quantity calculations
    • Respond to technical queries
    • Act as checker for other designers
    • Contribute to site installation and commissioning
    • Analyze feedback from fabricators and construction personnel to improve performance

    Skills / Qualifications

    • 5+ general design drafting experience, ideally within the oil and gas field
    • Willingness to go into the field as needed
    • Associate degree or Certification in a design discipline
    • Ability to problem-solve effectively
    • Strong analytical, literacy and numerical skills
    • Ability to identify risks and work safely
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
    • Proficiency in MS Office application software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
