  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. (Wood) is searching for a Mid-level Structural Engineer with a minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience to join our team in Phoenix, AZ.  The position will entail working on structural evaluation, repair and design projects on a variety of types of buildings and public infrastructure. Candidate will have opportunity to collaborate with personnel at other Wood offices throughout the company.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Serves as a discipline lead for structural engineering elements of projects
    • Reviews and interprets building code requirements and other pertinent design standards
    • Prepares client deliverables including field reports, calculation packages, plans/drawings, and specifications
    • Performs structural inspections in concrete, masonry, and steel
    • Conducts technical reviews of reports, correspondence, and calculations related to the structural discipline
    • Assists in defining structural scope, budget, and schedule for structural efforts/projects
    • Prepares and reviews engineering and construction cost estimates
    • Supports preparation of proposals and bids, including design-build projects
    • Follows company safety standards and site safety standards

    Skills / Qualifications

    Basic/Required Qualifications:

    • B.S. and/or M.S. in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a concentration in Structures/Structural Engineering
    • Minimum of 6 years, and preferably less than 10 years, of discipline-related experience
    • Registered as a Civil (PE) or Structural Professional Engineer (SE) in Arizona, active status with no disciplinary actions; Registered in other states considered a plus
    • Strong AutoCAD skills and experience with REVIT a plus
    • Exudes passion for the built environment
    • Ability to define and analyze finite element models
    • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to climb ladders and scaffolds
    • Ability to enter confined spaces - Required training/certification to be provided, if needed
    • Flexibility to travel as required - Project-related travel should be anticipated, primarily domestic short duration (typically a few days in duration) trips
    • Must pass drug screen, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Masters’ degree (MCE, M.S., etc.) in Civil or Architectural Engineering with a concentration in Structures/Structural Engineering
    • Design-build and CMAR experience
