    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Geomatics CADD Technician to join our growing Geomatics operations. Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. is a global multi-disciplined engineering, environmental, and construction services consulting firm. We are routinely awarded contracts on a regional and national level for the government, commercial, industrial, transportation, water, energy, and mining sectors.

     

    The Survey CAD Technician will transform raw field data from our survey crews into final maps and plans using computer aided drafting (CAD) and prepare surveying drawing and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards. Knowledge of boundary and topographical survey layout is required. The ability to professionally interact with clients and staff is a benefit. Must be proficient in preparing boundary surveys, topographic surveys, and utility surveys. MicroStation experience in the Survey and Mapping field is required.

     

    Key Responsibilities: 

    Work within multidiscipline team on wide variety of roadway, civil, civil/environmental and A/E projects, including Transportation plans, site development, infrastructure, landfills, stream restoration, soil and groundwater remediation. The CADD technician will work in MicroStation with both 2D and 3D survey files. The technician will work closely with the Geomatics team lead, survey field crews, SUE field crews, mobile scanning crews and Geomatics project managers, and clients to establish documents that communicate survey information to the Geomatics group’s clients.

     

    This position will require the use of MicroStation software to be used in the processing and drawing production of roadway mapping from field survey data. This position will frequently work +50 hrs./week. Experience with AutoCAD, Civil3D, Trimble GPS Instrumentation and Software a plus. 

     

    • Civil CAD Design and CAD support relative to grading, infrastructure and survey design
    • Prepare transportation, civil/environmental engineering construction and permitting drawings
    • Develop 2D mapping, surface models, pipe networks and utility maps using MicroStation Drawing production and engineering support of documents for local, state and federal projects
    • Interact with coworkers, project teams and coordination with remote offices
    • Conduct work in a professional and ethical manner
    • Implementation of varying client CAD standards
    • Create maps, diagrams and profiles using cross-sections and surveys to represent elevations, topographical contours, subsurface formations and structures
    • Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications and other engineering data received from field surveyors to ensure that they conform to standards
    • Correlate, interpret, and modify data obtained from topographical surveys, LiDAR scanning and utility location sketches and reports
    • Routine work and communication with Project Team and internal engineering and external technical specialists
    • Daily work, communication, and interaction with managers and employees across the organization and sub-contract vendors

     Project Related Responsibilities: 

    All facets of surveying and utility projects including:

    • Collection of deed data for boundary surveys Establishing project control monumentation
    • Collection of topographic information for 3d mapping
    • Providing construction layout on Wood projects Limited Marking utilities
    • Limited Vacuum excavation
    • Limited field survey

    Skills / Qualifications

    Required:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Knowledge of boundary and topographical survey layout
    • Proficiency in preparing boundary surveys, topographic surveys, site plans and mean high water line surveys
    • MicroStation experience in the Survey and Mapping field
    • Understanding of coordinate geometry and land surveying Understanding of survey design
    • Computer skills and technical competence
    • Ability to work on several jobs simultaneously
    • Commitment to work with other sections and divisions of Wood
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Attention to detail Strong work ethic
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Ability to travel
    • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

    Preferred:

    • Ability to professionally interact with clients and staff
    • Familiarity with utility locating
    • Familiarity with field surveying

    Physical Job Demands:

    • Performing work in a variety of conditions including hot and cold weather climates
    • Requires the use of hand held equipment
    • Must be able to work in a field environment and have the ability to travel as required
