  • Overview / Responsibilities

     

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Digitalization Manager based in the Houston, TX office. 

     

    *U.S. Only- Authorization to work permanently in the U.S. without sponsorship required. 

     

    Objective:

    To assist in the transformation of HSSEA performance through the development and implementation of technology based solutions which put real time data in the hands of our front line leaders.  The primary objective of this role is to transition from our current approach to supporting our frontline leaders.  The role will be predicated on the development and use of emerging technology to enable real-time data to be accessed and utilized at site level across the company. 

    • Collaborate with upper management to determine programming objectives
    • Provide analysis and the design the program structure before developing code.
    • Develop application design specifications
    • Develop data base design
    • Ensured data migration process of transferring data between storage types, formats, or computer systems. It is a key consideration for any system implementation, upgrade, or consolidation.
    • Testing applications for functionality and usability
    • Taking measures throughout the code's life-cycle to prevent gaps in the security policy of an application or the underlying system (vulnerabilities) through flaws in the design, development, deployment, upgrade, or maintenance of the application.
    • Provide software interface that allows two programs to share information with each other, even though they may have been developed by different sources or use different programming languages. i.e. a standard file format such as XML to move information from one system to another.
    • Participate in development of new software applications and deployment.
    • Write code that supports these objectives and provides optimal functionality
    • Edit and improve upon code in existing software programs and applications
    • Ensure code is error-free, readable, efficient, and logically organized for ease of access
    • Aptly name variables and include code comments for future users
    • Provide supplemental program instructions and diagrams for code in layman’s terms
    • Develop set systems and tasks for efficient coding processes
    • Run extensive tests and trial runs to confirm proper functionality and desired results
    • Operate debugging software and seek out root cause of error in coding or sequences
    • Perform detailed, manual checks of code
    • Troubleshoot errors effectively and efficiently
    • Create, manage, and maintain coding databases
    • Formulate efficient database retrieval systems
    • Frequently run upgrades on systems
    • Utilize information from code libraries to ease and expedite the coding process
    • Ensure programs, external equipment, networks, etc. are all in proper communication
    • Provide model diagrams and prototypes of your programming system
    • Collaborate in cross-functional projects
    • Committed to timelines and budgetary requirements
    • Stay abreast of industry breakthroughs and any new relevant programming technology
    • Design various HSSEA applications that can be utilized at all levels within the organization based on emerging risk within the business.
    • Document Digitization of HSE Management System (Level 1, 2 and 3 documents). Digitization of paper documents optimizes and considerably increases the efficiency of working with them. Documents converted into electronic form can be archived, retrieved, and shared with other users easily.
    • Develop and implement HSSEA related web base and device applications that are user friendly in Asp.Net environment.
    • Provide support and maintenance to end users.

    Skills / Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree in computer programming, computer science or related field
    • 2+ years of programming experience
    • MS Visual Studio
    • SQL Server
    • .Net Framework
    • Extensive knowledge in various programming languages (Java, Perl, Python, C++ etc.)
    • Proven mastery of use in our preferred coding language
