  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions seeks a Fire Protection Engineer with 4 to 8 years’ experience for our Atlanta, Georgia office. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, with excellent communication and leadership skills and have experience in engineering support and design of fire suppression systems, alarm and notification systems, passive fire protection, and life safety systems including code consulting.  The candidate should be familiar with fire risk analysis, facility condition assessments, and fire suppression/fire alarm system adequacy assessments.  Experience with military clients, fuels or aircraft hangars is a plus.

     

    Key Responsibilities

     

    • Assessment of fire sprinkler system hydraulic performance
    • Preparation of fire sprinkler and alarm system design drawings and specifications from concept level to 100% construction
    • Preparation of schematic cost estimates
    • Provide leadership and mentoring to junior staff
    • Lead field teams during site data collection and inspections visits
    • Data collection, coordination, analyses, report generation, and design development
    • Effective communication with staff, and Wood leadership
    • Coordination with other Wood offices
    • Approximately 25% travel is expected

    Skills / Qualifications

    • BS in Fire Protection Engineering or related discipline plus appropriate work experience
    • Professional Engineer registration in Fire Protection Engineering
    • Excellent communication skills and leadership
    • Strong planning, organization and execution skills
    • Excellent computer skills with MS Office applications
    • Knowledge and proficiency with the following codes and standards: NFPA, UFC, FM Global, IMC, IBC, IFC
    • Proficiency with the following design software: AutoCAD, Revit, HydraCad/HydraCalc
    • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance
    • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
