  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Project Surveyor / Senior Survey Technician for our Phoenix, Arizona office. The applicant must have a minimum of 10 years of Land Surveying experience. The preferred applicant will have 4 years of experience as a Survey Technician/drafter in the office. Experience in a supervisory role, a degree in Land Surveying or a related field, LSIT certification or professional licensure is strongly desired. A combination of education and experience totaling 10 years may be accepted as qualifications for this position. If not already professionally licensed, the ideal candidate will have the desire and commitment to obtain their license and to advance into Project Management.


    Key Responsibilities


    The successful candidate’s minimum primary duties will be to assist in or lead surveying services in the office. Leading field surveying efforts will also be required at times.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Performing boundary calculations
    • Interpreting and drafting record documents
    • Interacting with clients in the office and in the field
    • Uploading and downloading of GPS data collectors
    • Preparation of survey drawings, maps, exhibits and field layout documents
    • Writing of legal descriptions
    • Preparing closure reports
    • Performing office and/or field surveying calculations
    • Working closely with Survey Project Managers
    • Leading or assisting with field work efforts for land surveying services of all types
    • Leading or assisting in small Unmanned Aerial System operations (UAV’s)
    • Unmanned Surface Vehicle operations (USV’s – remote control hydrographic surveying boat)

    Skills / Qualifications

    This position will require:  

    • Effective written and verbal communication skills
    • Experience drafting in AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • Experience in the use of MicroStation a plus
    • Technical skill in the use of Trimble equipment including GPS and Robotic Total Stations
    • Processing of field data using Trimble Business Center
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • A solid work ethic
    • Excellent organizing and time management skills
    • Strong supervisory skills
    • Experience in construction staking, layout and supervision a plus  
    • Must pass a drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy
