  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is seeking an Electrical/Instrumentation Operations Manager, Shale Facilities to oversee projects throughout the Permian Basin of West Texas and Eastern NM. Successful candidates who are strong leaders, with solid communication and interpersonal skills, along with the technical knowledge and experiences in managing operational activity of the organization's facilities electrical projects. He/she will have demonstrated success in managing profit and loss, project operations, and coordination of project staff and sub-contractors to ensure safe, cost effective, efficient and timely completion of projects in order to meet and/or exceed client


    Key Responsibilities


    • Models the Group’s safety vision, objectives and associated initiatives, ensuring the HSEQ culture is promoted and visible, with a focus on continuous improvement 
    • Identifies and assesses principal risks for the region and ensures that these are being monitored and managed
    • Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability
    • Formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the region
    • Work hand-in-hand with the project team to create a mutual understanding of the project strategy based on the requirement of the job
    • Locate, recruit, hire, mentor, and manage key talent to support projects
    • Assure that projects achieve objectives and project completion within budget and time frame
    • Manage the coordination of geographically dispersed project teams to ensure safe, cost effective, efficient and timely completion of projects in order to meet and/or exceed client expectations
    • Comply with legal requirements, building and safety codes, and other regulations
    • Make sure projects are completed on time and on budget with the right amount of tools, equipment and materials
    • Day to day scheduling of manpower for sites that you oversee
    • Works closely with other project and site managers and/or project management in development and implementation, testing and documentation practices and procedures
    • Provide technical support to solve problems encountered
    • Responsible for understanding scope of project and communicating to the Crews and Crew Lead
    • Coordinates work efforts and manage subcontractors and vendors on projects
    • Enforce the policies and procedures as it relates to health and safety
    • Hiring and firing of staff – for projected workloads – Maintaining proper crew count
    • Business growth and client (project development) – building own client base and projects
    • Monitor quality of the work being done by department staff
    • Perform project setup duties, conduct project kickoff meetings
    • Oversee the proactive coordination of project scope with Project Team, Operations Department and the Purchasing Department to achieve maximum efficiency and cost management

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Master Electricians license is preferred, along with 5 - 10 years project management experience required
    • Advanced knowledge of the construction industry and company operations in regards to Electrical and Instrumentation
    • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and analytical skills
    • Significant experience in lead roles in the management of Electrical and Instrumentation
    • Knowledge of industry’s legal rules and guidelines
    • Delegate responsibility and assure its proper completion in line with corporate guidelines and policy
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
    • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos
    • Ability to write simple correspondence
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
    • Ability to solve practical problems
    • Ability to lead and manage the I&E department consisting of many electrical crews spread across a large footprint of the Permian Basin.
    • Background in electrical estimating, scheduling, and subcontractor bidding and close out
    • Background in electrical project management
    • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
