  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking a Project Engineer to assist the office located in Virginia Beach, Virginia.  The work will require periodic travel outside of the local area.


    Key Responsibilities:

    • Preparing reports and studies; developing specifications, manuals, and other written documentation; developing process improvement initiatives; and conducting business case and productivity analyses associated with operations, inventory, and logistics management for buildings and supporting infrastructure
    • Assessing and documenting conditions and deficiencies for facility, equipment, and supporting infrastructure in accordance with specifications and building codes – assessment services include structural, roofing, paving, foundations, exterior wall and window systems, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, elevators, ADA features, and interior finishes
    • Collecting and managing data associated with the BUILDERTM Sustainment Management System and its modules (e.g., RAILER, PAVER, and ROOFER)
    • Validating and updating asset inventories, including associated Geographic Information System (GIS) data
    • Recommending corrective actions for facility/equipment deficiencies, including preparation of cost estimates
    • Reviewing and analyzing data to determine required facility modifications associated with re-commissioning or retro-commissioning of facilities and equipment

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Calculation of condition indices
    • Generation of requirements using pre-established methodologies
    • Energy and water efficiency conservation assessments
    • Project development and scoping
    • Development and delivery of training programs, materials, and manuals

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university
    • 5+ years of experience in structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, or other facilities engineering field
    • PE desirable
    • Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and switch gears quickly
    • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, possibly including nights and weekends
    • Ability to work with oversight in a team environment
    • Ability to work in a wide range of environmental conditions, indoors and outdoors
    • Strong technical writing and verbal communications skills
    • Computer skills, including mobile devices such as tablets for both office work and field data collection
    • Careful attention to detail and demonstrated organizational skills
    • Ability to obtain authorization to access Federal work sites
    • Must pass drug screening, background check, and physical exam
