  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is looking for a Geotechnical Project Engineer to join our Tampa, FL team. The candidate will support and manage projects in Florida, to provide civil/geotechnical engineering services for dams & levees, mining, commercial development and civil infrastructure & transportation projects.


    Key Responsibilities


    Provide civil/geotechnical engineering support to project teams and assist with delivery geotechnical and geologic projects to Wood’s public and private sector clients

    • Projects include site investigation, dams and levees design, mining and tailings pond design and construction, transportation, utilities and other civil works projects
    • Support geotechnical/civil investigation and design activities
    • Support field construction inspection and testing
    • Management of a variety of field work activities
    • Geotechnical engineering analyses and assistance with report preparation
    • Collaboration and participation in technical discussions with Wood team members

    Skills / Qualifications

    • BS in Civil Engineering, Geotech/Mining Engineering or related engineering discipline
    • 3-5 years+ experience in geotechnical engineering and field investigations
    • Strong academic background and solid understanding of soil mechanics and local Florida soils and geology
    • Currently EI registered and eligible to apply for PE licensure in Florida
    • Diverse experience in the following areas highly desired:
    • Experience with drilling, field investigations, and laboratory testing
    • Good communication, report writing, interpersonal and presentation skills
    • Superior time management, planning and ability to interact with clients
    • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
    • Proficiency with Geostudio SLOPE/W & SEEP/W software is a plus but not required
    • Willing to travel for extended periods of time
    • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
