  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a Director,  HSSE to support our Power and Process Group HSSE function.  This position will be located at our Tucker, Georgia office.

     

    Responsibilities:

    • Take personal ownership and responsibility for protecting people from harm, and for developing strategies that drive performance and support continuous improvement.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of HSSE policies and procedures with Sr. Operational leadership
    • Monitor compliance to HSSE standards; including monitoring client HSSE requirements; conducting scheduled field visits and inspections; recommending and following through on corrective actions.
    • Review statistical data, inspection reports and compliance survey results; track and trend results; make recommendations and recognize achievements.
    • Prepare required reports to the HSSE Department including HSSE record-keeping documentation such as OSHA logs, training records, PTSA’s and observations.
    • Assist in the investigation of incidents for root cause identification, and recommending preventive action; supporting supervisors to prepare injury, incident and loss control reports.
    • Support the procurement needs, and the training requirements for using personal protective equipment; evaluate effectiveness and recommend improvements.
    • Support new hire orientation process and other HSSE workforce development needs.
    • Monitor health and environmental hazards including industrial hygiene issues; ensuring proper management and control.
    • Participate in professional HSSE conferences and organizations; pursue continuing education opportunities.
    • Supporting Beyond Zero – Zero Harm Culture implementation.
    • Support implementation Wood HSSE Management System; including pre-task HSSE planning, peer observations process, and incident investigations:
    • Assist in Project  development, start-up and planning efforts; hazard recognition and control: training and education assistance; auditing and inspecting support;

     

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Strong organization and planning skills;
    • Understanding of organizational behavior
    • Solid interpersonal and communication skills;
    • Ability to conduct statistical & analytical assessments, and superior report writing;
    • Has a strategic approach and self-starter;
    • Computer based systems and software competency;
    • HSE policies, procedures and management systems;
    • Emergency response including 1st aid/CPR 
    • Comprehensive knowledge of HSSE legislation and regulations;
    • Inspection and auditing requirements;
    • Incident reporting and investigating requirements;
    • Health and environmental aspects of HSSE;

    Qualifications:

    • At least 15 years’ experience, working on large construction projects
    • Associate or a Bachelor degree with 10+ years’ experience  in a Sr. leadership role in safety and/or other relevant field of study preferred.
    • Must possess HSSE Certification (CSP or CHST)
    • Previous experience creating HSSE plans
