  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently recruiting for a  Project Controls Cost Specialist with experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Monitors assigned project cost estimates, expenditures, forecasts, cash flow and project earned value following Project Cost Control and Accounting procedures
    • Implements cost and accounting procedures and ensures that all expenditures, estimates and change orders are properly coded and dispersed into proper work breakdown structure (WBS)
    • Tracks project cost against budget including committed and expensed costs, and its allocation to work breakdown structure (WBS); Recommends variance recovery plans as needed; Examines and reviews unusual cost records and elevates issues in a timely manner
    • Generates, reviews and submits system reports to provide Project Managers with the information necessary to effectively understand and manage the project
    • Monitors, analyzes and reports on various other costs
    • Provides productivity analysis

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Engineering, Management, Business Administration or similar is preferred
    • Technical knowledge of engineering work involved
    • Working knowledge of cost control and project management software and techniques
    • Understanding of the Project Management process and technical knowledge of the engineering work involved
    • Demonstrates solid understanding of policies and procedures that apply to assignments
    • Some understanding of internal economic factors which affect project costs, margins and profit impact of decisions
    • Progressive project cost control experience utilizing Earned Value methodologies to analyze and report on project cost performance
    • Technical or engineering experience preferred
    • Ability to analyze and perform variance analysis between actual and budgeted costs
    • Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills in order to interact with co-workers in a team based environment
    • Demonstrates good report writing and effective presentation skills
    • PC skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, and Primavera Software tool
    • Ability to pay close attention to details, and present good planning, organization, and time management skills
    • Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily
    • SME in Convero, Engineering Management, SCM, Document Control and Capitol Cost
    • Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule agreed with manager (may require working an adjusted work schedule based on project assigned and work overtime if warranted)
    • Ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures
