  • Overview / Responsibilities

    The Program Director will be responsible for the cradle-to-grave oversight of multiple project teams executing projects for assigned clients. The project managers for each project team will report and be accountable to the Program Director. This position will be the Wood’s senior project level representative, responsible for overseeing the planning, organization (staffing) and execution of projects for assigned customers and will work alongside Business Development to ensure proactive client account management. Projects may range in scope from conceptual studies to the largest and most complex EPC projects. Core responsibilities include Project Management assignments and leadership of their employees. The Project Director will oversee the project teams’ performance to ensure the proper monitoring of safety planning and implementation, compliance and performance, constructability, project progress, financial performance against as-sold budgets, Integrity Management through baseline compliance, conformance with all corporate core values, and the assurance of healthy customer relationships.  



    • Maintain effective interaction with the Client and project stakeholders in coordination with Business Development when appropriate;
    • Ensure all Company and Client contractual obligations are fulfilled;
    • Understand Client’s needs in order to satisfy expectations;
    • Monitor Client satisfaction. Solicit executive management support and intervention when required;
    • Promote Company capabilities and value proposition. Work to expand the Company’s scope of services but only where it provides value to the project;
    • Proactively participate in the negotiation of all contracts for assigned clients. Fully understand the Prime Contract and contractual risks and ensure that the project Teams do so as well;
    • Protect the interests and reputation of the Company and the Client.


    • Ensure a safe and productive work environment. Actively promote and ensure focus on both occupational and technical safety;
    • Promote and ensure quality management, integrity management and continual improvement processes;
    • Monitor delivery of assigned projects in accordance with the Project Execution Plan;
    • Monitor the use of approved Baseline work processes, procedures, tools and ensure that BU PEP’s are followed;
    • Ensure documentation of lessons learned and best practices to support Company’s Continual Improvement processes and knowledge base




    • Monitor coordination with Business Development to document the project’s As-Sold basis in accordance with the Prime Contract, proposal documents, and any negotiated changes;
    • Ensure development of a Project Execution Plan (PEP) to meet the project scope, cost, schedule, and risk criteria.   Support the project team to obtain the resources necessary to carry out the plan;
    • Assist in the removal of organizational barriers as necessary to meet specific project and client requirements;
    • Ensure there is a clear division of responsibilities between the Client, Company, key Suppliers and third party subcontractors;
    • Lead the development of Work Share Execution planning and the domestic or international work share scope of services as applicable for specific clients and projects;
    • Establish the project organization and staff key project positions. Ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly defined;
    • Ensure project interfaces are clearly defined and managed;
    • Facilitate an environment where project team members and project stakeholders can effectively achieve the project objectives


    • Facilitate an environment where project team members and all project stakeholders can effectively and openly communicate;
    • Ensure the effective and timely communication of project risks as appropriate within the Company and the project team;
    • Routinely monitor project progress, cost, risks and quality data to identify trends and allow for timely corrective actions. Provide forecasts of status and progress as required;  
    • Ensure that projects are brought to an orderly completion.


    • Promote effective management of invoicing and receipt of payments per the contract in order to minimize the BU’s DSO;
    • Support the Project Managers to achieve or better “as sold margins” for each project;
    • Support the Project Managers to achieve “no give backs” to clients.


    Skills / Qualifications


    • Minimum 15 years’ experience as Project Manager on a major capital project or program;
    • Proven track record of effectively managing projects while meeting safety, quality, and budget and schedule performance goals is required to advance to this level
    • Demonstrated effectiveness in project negotiations, multi-site interfaces, commercial management of contracts and supplier and contractor quality systems, management of change systems, and implementation of project management strategies
    • Proficient experience in the management of contracts, budgeting, controlling costs, planning, scheduling and management of change
    • Established rapport with internal stakeholders within a matrixed, international organization
    • Implemented plans using results-oriented goals for measuring success
    • Reinforced difficult decisions that align with organizational strategies and values
    • Performed as an ethical role model and positively influences managerial integrity and accountability


    • Travel to domestic and international offices and job sites may be required periodically;
    • Relocation to project site may be required to continue overall EPC leadership.


    • Project Management Technical Expertise and Practice; professional certification such as PMP, PE and/ or licensed general contractor preferred
    • Oil and Gas engineering and construction services
    • Maintain working knowledge of business lines as well as competitive market


    • BS in Engineering, Construction Management or similar technical field preferred.
