  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Power & Process has an exciting opportunity seeking an Electrical Start Up & Commissioning Manager.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Commissioning and Start-Up for large EPC power generation and solar projects
    • Oversee the installation, testing and commissioning of transmission lines and solar field distribution lines for a large industrial Solar PV project
    • Oversight of 3rd party contractor testing
    • Develop procedures, direct switching orders and procedures for equipment, incoming and outgoing transmission lines
    • Responsible for oversight of electrical testing
    • Work with vendors and utilities during synchronization to grid and assistance with performance testing
    • Understanding of turn-over package requirements and preparation of 3rd party testing is required
    • Responsible for developing and implementing procedures that satisfy the requirements of the organization, client, and governing bodies
    • Implementation of tailored procedures on individual projects


    Skills / Qualifications

    • BS in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management a minimum of 5 years of practical experience or 10 years equivalent practical experience in a related position
    • Must have experience with preparation of commissioning and start up procedures in utility-scale solar facilities
    • Experience with large EPC power generation projects
    • 5 to 10 years of experience in commissioning & start up
    • Experience with large EPC power generation projects
    • Good writing and communication skills
    • Knowledge of construction project practices and procedures

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
    • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos
    • Ability to write simple correspondence
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization

    Reasoning Ability

    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
