  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently seeking an Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls Coordinator to join our project group in Round Mountain, NV for an 8 month position.

     

    Key Responsibilities

    • Significant experience in electrical, instrumentation and controls installation activities with specific focus on confirming adherence to applicable codes, standards and design documents with regard to the mining and minerals business segments.
    • Making field decisions regarding electrical, instrumentation and controls construction requirements
    • Confirming compliance to project Lock-Out-Tag-Out (LOTO) Procedures
    • Supervising installation of PLC and DCS networks including loop testing and calibrations
    • Liaising between site engineering requests, home office engineering and construction contractors.
    • Reviewing detailed design drawings for constructibility purposes
    • Coordinating construction sequences and activities between on-site contractors.
    • Reviewing contractor plans with respect to equipment usage and cycle times
    • Establishing and monitoring contract budgets and schedules, including assessment of change order requests.
    • Assisting the contractors with clarification, interpretation, interference resolution and QA/QC related matters.
    • Confirming equipment and materials arriving at site meet the engineering specifications and quantities
    • Ensuring instructions, drawings and specifications for scope changes are issued in a timely manner.
    • Ensuring that Health, Safety and Environment Programs are implemented and adhered to at all times
    • Updating the site-wide deficiency lists to be issued at weekly construction meetings
    • Participating in the turnover process by assembling completion checklists and other engineering and construction records

    Skills / Qualifications

    • 15-20 years’ experience in mining and/or industrial construction, or 10 years’ experience with a technical degree
    • Experience in interpreting electrical, instrumentation and controls installation plans, single line diagrams, block diagrams, loop diagrams, engineered construction drawings, technical specifications and engineering details and designs
    • Understanding of industry codes, standards and construction methods for mining and mineral processing operations.
    • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work in a team environment
    • Previous experience in an electrical engineering environment is an asset
