  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is seeking an Area Manager, Renewables Solar to oversee projects across Eastern USA. Successful candidates who are strong leaders, with solid communication and interpersonal skills, along with the technical knowledge and experiences in managing multiple projects in the renewables market, will thrive in this role. He/she will have demonstrated success in managing EPC solar/renewable projects, and a desire to help grow the business, mentoring and coaching members of the team.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Manage and/or execute multiple, complex and large renewable energy projects
    • Organize the project team working with other support functions in order to complete assigned project in accordance with scope and budget
    • Responsible for development, implementation, and on-going adherence to the project execution plan
    • Prepare and present documentation and reports of assigned projects(s) for periodic review by senior management
    • Act as the primary contact with the client in matters pertaining to project execution ensuring senior management is advised of any client concerns or issues
    • Monitor performance of project and project team members against established scope, schedule, and budget
    • Works with the project manager and project team to deal with any differences in technical judgement between construction and engineering
    • Works with project lead to establish appropriate subcontracting scope and participates in subcontract negation and approval in compliance with company policy and standards
    • Responsible for profit/loss of assigned project
    • Administer project changes and negotiates them with the client
    • Provides performance evaluations of lead project team members as required
    • Performs other duties as assigned by manager
    • Requires significant travel of between 50-75%

    Supervisory Responsibilities


    • Direct the day to day operations of assigned project(s)
    • Delegate responsibility and assure its proper completion in line with corporate guidelines and policy

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in relevant field along with 10-15 years project management experience required
    • Advanced knowledge of the construction industry and company operations
    • Experience in project execution to commissioning, in an EPC environment
    • Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and analytical skills
    • Technical, engineering, construction management, or business administration degree and/or at least 10 -15 years of related experience
    • Significant experience in lead roles in the management of renewable and/or heavy industrial self-performing construction operating units
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
    • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos
    • Ability to write simple correspondence
    • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization
    • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

    Physical Demands


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to type and write. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl. The employee must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and color vision.


    Work Environment


    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently inspect the project and may be exposed to ongoing construction and various weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
