    Wood is currently recruiting for a Health, Safety and Environment Specialist (HSE) to join our team in Kenedy, Texas.  The successful candidate will be responsible to assist the HSE Management Leadership Team with the implementation and administration of the Business Unit’s Health, Safety and Environmental Programs that meet or exceed the Group and clients HSE expectations.  Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

    • Conduct regularly scheduled HSE field audits. Provide the Area Management/Account Managers with an audit report of findings and recommendations for corrective action and follow-up to ensure all deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner.
    • Assist the Area Management/Account Managers to insure all incidents are reported, investigated in accordance with the Business Unit and the client’s incident and investigation reporting expectations.
    • Insure a Flash Report (Safety Alert) is written for all incidents and submitted with the incident investigation report.
    • Assist Area Management/Account Managers with their scheduling, preparation, conducting and documenting safety meetings in accordance with the Business Unit and the client’s expectations.
    • Attend the client’s HSE meetings in order to keep up to date with their HSE expectations and maintaining good relationships. Keep Area Management/Account Managers and HSE Manager informed of all new client HSE program expectations.
    • Conduct tailgate safety meetings and ensure they are properly documented.
    • Conduct regularly scheduled reviews of the Business Unit’s HSE training program for compliance with the client’s HSE training program expectations. Training program gaps are to be reported to the Area Management/Account Managers and HSE Manager.
    • Provide new hire safety orientation training and safety awareness training as may be required.
    • Assist Area Management/Account Managers with administering the Business Units Short Service Employee (SSE) program and to ensure the program meets or exceeds the client’s (SSE) program expectations.
    • Assist with the administration of the Business Unit’s drug and alcohol program in the event of a work related incident.
    • Assist all employees with any HSE related issues always trying to be proactive, to encourage and to help.






    Skills / Qualifications

    • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in Oil & Gas/Process industries
    • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent qualifications from a recognized university is preferred

    • An acceptable combination of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements

    • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.


    Language Skills: Basic Skills: Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and general public.


    Mathematical Skills: Basic Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


    Reasoning Ability: Basic Skills: Ability to solve problems practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardized exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.
