  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Reporting to the Vice President of Construction, this position will be responsible for multiple, largely self-perform, firm fixed price pipeline projects with a combined value of up to $250 million dollars and be accountable for the following:


    • Project safety & quality; construction & contracts management; planning, budgeting, schedule & cost control, change management, and reporting; engineering & procurement support; and systems commissioning, startup, and handover
    • Leadership and ongoing direction of multidisciplinary project construction teams in a broad geographic area;
    • Proactive, hands-on management utilizing analysis, planning, & innovation to address project opportunities and challenges to effectively deliver his/her project and meet/exceed stakeholders’ expectations;
    • Effective financial/legal  management of contracts (both the prime contract and subcontracts) in areas such as fee payment, rental equipment, services, income/expenses, etc. to protect the company’s interests and simultaneously establish and maintain good Client relationships;
    • Effective relationship management of all project stakeholders (owners & clients, subcontractors, project team, regulatory authorities, local law enforcement, landowners, etc.) to further project goals and objectives;
    • Timely project reporting, with status on safety, quality, project progress and productivity measured against plan and physical completion, schedule, and budget;
    • Based on the above, forecasting of overall results and, in cases of deviation from established budgets and plans, development, recommendation, and implementation of remedial interventions to ensure effective project delivery.

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred although high school diploma/GED with extensive relevant experience will be considered
    • Professional Engineering license, PMP Certification, or work towards obtaining preferred
    • Minimum of 20 years of experience in construction &  management of pipeline projects, including high pressure gas and liquid hydrocarbon transmission lines of various sizes, pump and compressor stations, and general pipeline modification/integrity work
    • Must be generally aware of the codes & standards governing the design and operation of pipelines listed in DOT CRF 49 Parts 192 and 195 for pipelines
    • Experience in organizing &  leading multiple teams and projects of increasing size, cost,  & scope complexity
    • Demonstrable self-perform construction leadership experience
    • Demonstrable, successful experience in managing firm fixed price projects
    • Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their potential impact on project activities and outcomes;
    • Superior communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.)  are mandatory, in both written and oral settings
    • Significant business skills and experience
