  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently looking for an experienced Project Engineer to join our Fired Heaters group at our Hampton, New Jersey offic.  The Project Engineer will prepare design calculations and/or perform other routine engineering tasks using prescribed methods and procedures. Performs specific limited portions of a broader assignment under direction of a more experienced engineer/Project Manager.
     

    Responsibilities

    • Preparation of requisitions for fired heater engineered equipment for inquiry/purchase.
    • Review, comment, and implement customer specifications.
    • Review and condition vendor quotations, prepare technical bid tabulationss with purchase recommendations.
    • Perform engineering calculations for pressurized equipment in accordance with ASME and API codes.
    • Review, comment, and approve vendor deliverables (drawings, calculations, procedures and specifications).
    • Respond to and resolve client questions and comments.
    • Serve as technical interface with client and vendors.
    • Assist in the coordination of the overall project with other internal disciplines (Engineering and Drafting, QA/QC, Procurement, Document Control and Project Control)
    • Assist in the preparation of progress reporting
    • Assist in the preparation of Operation and Maintenance Manuals and Equipment Data Books
     

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mechanical preferred
    • Minimum 5 years experience
    • Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices
    • Learns complex information and/or skills quickly
    • Listens to others, learns and asks questions or seeks assistance when necessary
    • General steel construction
    • Insulation systems including castable refractory and ceramic fiber
    • Materials, welding, NDE
    • Rotating equipment such as forced draft fans, induced draft fans, pumps
    • Steam systems
    • Piping systems

    Work Environment and Demands

    • General office environment
    • Travel to client’s office, plant or site may be required
    • Travel to vendor’s fabrication and/or test facility
    • May need to drive, walk, climb stairs or ladders, and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) (hard hat, protective foot gear, eye protection and other site-specific equipment)
