  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. (Wood) is seeking an on-call SPRAT Level III Rope Access Supervisor with condition assessment and building envelope expertise to work in the Structures Group in our Charlotte, North Carolina Office.

     

    The position will entail performing structural evaluations, building envelope assessment, forensic structural evaluation, repair, and various inspections on a variety of types of commercial, government, and industrial buildings and similar structures. Our projects are generally located throughout the Carolinas and the eastern United States; however, we do work nationwide and occasionally worldwide. Candidate will have opportunity to collaborate with personnel at other Wood offices throughout the company.

     

    Essential Tasks and Responsibilities

     

    Candidates are anticipated to perform the following job functions: 

    • Follows company safety standards and site safety standards
    • Performs field exploration, inspection, and documentation
    • Utilizes field measuring and testing equipment
    • Prepared daily reports and/or project summaries
    • Interacts with other professionals, clients, contractors, building officials, and general public
    • Inspects, documents, and oversees construction activities
    • Coordinates elements of projects for senior staff
    • Demonstrate an ability to manage the safety of other rope access technicians and the public
    • Demonstrate clear communication skills and be able to read, write, and speak in the language of the work place
    • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of proper use, inspection, and care of all equipment required on a rope access work site

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Maintain current SPRAT Level III Certification
    • Maintain current First Aid, CPR, AED Certification
    • Possesses effective oral and written communication skills in English
    • A valid driver's license and clean DMV report
    • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
    • Flexibility to travel as required - Up to approximately 25% travel; primarily domestic short duration (typically one week or less) trips - Longer duration and/or international trips are sometimes required 

    Work Environment/Physical Demands

     

    • Regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear
    • Work is sometimes physically demanding, requiring the employee to be on their feet all day performing visual observations
    • Frequently is required to walk and reach with hands and arms
    • Required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
    • Occasionally works in outside weather conditions that are hot, cold and/or wet
    • Must have the ability to climb a ladder; maneuver in, on, and under buildings and other structures; and work at heights (ladders, man lifts, scaffolds, catwalks)
    • Occasionally exposed to hazardous plants, insects, reptiles, and other animals
