    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a ScanSortSM Field Team Lead to join our project team in San Francisco, CA.

    Role Overview

    Oversee the safe, proper, and efficient operations of the ORION ScanSortSM system, a proprietary, complex, conveyor-based soil sorting system that segregates soils based on radiological content. Ensure that the system is operated and maintained in accordance with established controls and procedures. Identify and respond appropriately to unexpected conditions. Eagerly and adeptly understand and apply new concepts and technologies. Interpret data and perform oversight of data integrity and quality control. Provide work direction to other technical staff.


    Our initial work is a 6 month project in San Francisco, CA. We anticipate the work may continue in San Francisco for up to 2 years. If an individual is open to travel, they may have the opportunity to support projects in other locations in the US and internationally following the San Francisco work.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Oversee the safe, proper, and efficient operations of the ORION ScanSortSM system
    • Critically and analytically assess electronics, machinery, and data to ensure proper operations
    • Set up, maintain, and calibrate equipment
    • Maintain logs of field activities and generate reports.
    • Securely manage, analyze, and interpret various sensitive data streams
    • Identify, troubleshoot, and rectify deviations from normal operating conditions
    • Use specialized equipment to collect & manage data and prepare analyses & reports
    • Oversee operators and staff performing tasks associated with ScanSortSM operations.
    • Effectively communicate with clients, regulators, field technicians, and equipment operators

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Minimum of 2 years environmental field work or other directly relevant experience
    • AS or BS degree or 2 years’ experience in a STEM field strongly preferred
    • Understanding of applicable scientific methods and technical methodologies
    • Computer proficiency to include Windows OS and MS Office, especially Excel and Access
    • Basic knowledge of software communications and networking
    • Working knowledge of spectroscopy
    • Mechanical knowledge of conveyors, motors, and VFDs preferred
    • Electrical knowledge, including 120VAC, 3-phase 480VAC, and DC circuitry preferred
    • Ability to understand and follow procedural manuals and execute work orders
    • Ability to write and prepare reports and documentation
    • Ability to follow instructions with attention to detail
    • Ability to effectively communicate technical information to a wide range of audiences
    • Ability to work independently and with a team
    • HAZWOPER and Radiation Worker Training preferred
    • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
    • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
    • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving policy
