    Wood has a long tradition delivering Transmission and Design projects globally to a wide and established client base. Due to recent growth we are expanding our resources through the South East of America to provide enhanced local support to our customers.  


    Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Distribution CAD Technician. Reporting to the Distribution Department Manager, this position can be located in our Orlando or West Palm Beach, FL offices.     Key responsibilities:

    • Work as part of a team delivering construction design packages for overhead and underground distribution projects.
    • Supporting and preparing development and detailed design drawings and documentation for the delivery of projects.
    • Traveling and visiting project sites during design and construction to collect necessary data for the completion of deliverables.
    • Providing construction support and responding to information requests during construction and completing project documentation including as-builts

    Skills / Qualifications

    • A diploma from a recognized Electrical technology program
    • 2-3 years’ experience in distribution design
    • Exposure to overhead and underground distribution systems (4-25kV)
    • Exposure to utility and industrial standards
    • Knowledge of GIS based applications, such as GE Smallworld, ArcFM
    • Knowledge of drafting tools, such as, AutoCAD or Bentley MicroStation would be an advantage
    • Strong computer design skills, the ability new software packages and apply on the job training
    • A strong work ethic
    • A passion for details
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Proven ability to work in design teams and manage time effectively between multiple projects
    • Willingness and initiative to learn the trade
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to exercise initiative when resolving issues and in adapting and applying procedures to address unusual situations
