  • Overview / Responsibilities

    We are currently sourcing a Communications Advisor o join our team in Houston, TX. The primary objective of this role is to provide communications support to the organisation. This includes: sourcing, writing, editing and producing compelling stories; developing high quality communications; supporting the development of key communications channels by devising engaging content and logistical support; the planning and delivery of creative communications campaigns and measuring the success and performance of the communications reach.


    The role holder needs to understand the organization, develop trusted relationships in the business and be responsive to the needs of employees and business leaders, and direction from the communications functional leaders.

    •  Research, write, edit, proof, produce & distribute print, online and video communications and PR materials to defined target audiences.
    • Work with the business to understand our functional/regional communications objectives, key messages, audience size and scope and contribute to communications planning.
    • Contribute regular ideas, stories and articles for internal communications channels.
    • Develop press releases, FAQs, briefing materials, features and technical papers to promote Wood in support of external communications.
    • Promote integration, and be consistent in delivering a responsive communications service to employees and key stakeholders.
    • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures and ways of working with a focus on continuous improvement.
    • Support the planning of town halls, conferences, exhibitions and CSR initiatives.
    • Identify and develop compelling, relevant stories about people and services from around the business.
    • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships to ensure consistency in the flow of information coming from the business and the wider industry and to ensure information is accurate and up to date.
    • Ensure timely delivery of projects – taking responsibility for work, deadlines, contribution and the management of expectations.
    • Undertake on-call and emergency response duties as required



    Skills / Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications:

    University degree or equivalent in a communications or related field.


    Job-Specific Experience:

    Minimum 3 years’ experience in a communications and/or marketing role, preferably within the energy industry but not critical. Associated experience in agency, journalism, copy writing deemed equivalent.

    Exceptional written and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate complex ideas simply and meaningfully to audiences of diverse background and levels across the business.


    Knowledge of:

    Communications campaign planning

    Professional writing


    Experience of:

    Highly effective interpersonal & consulting skills.

    Ability to work to deadlines.

    Copy writing

    Enthusiasm, can do attitude and energy are must have qualities.

    Keen eye for attention to detail.

    Good organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently and take responsibility for project delivery.


    Ability to:

    Introduce, share and challenge existing processes.

    Develop engaging communications solutions that connect with multicultural audiences across a variety of channels.

    Ensure the integrity of the information distributed across the business, maintaining compliance with the Wood’s business ethics policy at all times
