  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Field Survey Technician to assist in performing land surveying services. This is a full time position but hours will vary dependent upon workloads and project needs.


    Key Responsibilities

    • Performing field work efforts for land surveying services of all types
    • Prepare field staking materials as necessary
    • Operate GPS, Robotic Total Stations and data collectors
    • Read and understand engineering and survey drawings, maps, exhibits and field layout documents
    • Maintain field equipment in a clean and secure manner
    • Load and unload field survey equipment and supplies to and from the survey truck
    • Perform pre-start vehicle checks to ensure operability maintenance and safety
    • Actively lead and/or participate in safety discussions and briefings

    Skills / Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • 2 or more years of Land Surveying experience as a Crew Chief/Survey Technician in the field preferred
    • Effective verbal communication skills
    • Ability to work alone or as part of a team
    • Good work ethic
    • Solid time management skills
    • Technical skill in the use of Trimble survey equipment including GPS and Robotic Total Stations
    • Thorough understanding and interpretation of construction design drawings and field calculations
    • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
    • The applicant will need to reside in the Raleigh/Durham area as this position is based in Durham
