  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking an Engineer to join our St. Louis Infrastructure department team. This position will perform a broad range of planning and design tasks for stand-alone water, wastewater, stormwater and general infrastructure projects, as well as civil design tasks associated with support of other multi-discipline projects. Duties will include the development of plans, construction drawings, specifications, design computations, reports and construction documents. The position will be technically involved in detailed design work, coordination of civil and non-civil designs on multi-discipline projects, coordination with utilities and municipalities, as well as resolution of design issues that may include performing field investigations. Qualities of a successful candidate include: strong design experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D; strong working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS; strong knowledge of drafting and design techniques; experience developing construction drawings; experience developing construction specifications; 5-10 years of relevant engineering experience; strong communication skills (in person, on the phone, & written correspondence); and the desire to design diverse projects. The position will provide the opportunity to design with the support of several licensed professional engineer peers.

     

    Key Responsibilities

     

    • Develop engineering designs in AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • Prepare construction drawings in AutoCAD Civil 3D
    • Manage data and perform mapping in ArcGIS
    • Manage large quantities of data in Microsoft Excel
    • Research relevant codes, standards, and permitting requirements specific to each project
    • Coordinate with sub-consultants
    • Correspond with utilities and municipalities
    • Perform site investigations and surveys as needed
    • Assist in preparation of proposals
    • Prepare reports, memos, minutes, and other technical documents
    • Perform peer reviews as necessary

    Skills / Qualifications

    • B.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET-Accredited University
    • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam; EI/EIT Certification
    • PE licensure is a plus, though not required for this position
    • Technically competent and willing to learn engineering software
    • Strong technical writing skills, including strong use of appropriate English grammar
    • Experience with Microsoft Excel; specifically experience with filtering data, vlookups, pivot tables and basic algebraic functions within Excel
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
    • Experience in Microsoft Project is a plus
    • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
