  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a Soils Technician to join our team in Irvine, California.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Perform inspection of soil-related construction activities, including but not limited to grading, compacted backfill, foundation excavations, shoring installation and testing, drilled and driven piles, micropiles, and soil improvement technologies
    • Read and interpret project plans and specifications to determine what inspections are required
    • Clearly, completely, and accurately document the inspections performed
    • Field work including observation and documentation of grading or construction activities, compaction testing using a nuclear gauge, sand cone, or other prescribed methods

    Skills / Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent minimum
    • Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record
    • ICC Certification in soils preferable
    • City of Los Angeles Deputy Grading Inspector License preferable
    • Radiation Safety and Use of Nuclear Gauges certification preferable
    • ACI Certification in concrete desirable
    • Strong verbal and written communication, attention to detail, and organization skills
    • Willing to travel locally and out of the area as necessary
    • Able to stoop, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds
    • 40-hour HAZWOPPER training desirable
    • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
