  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood is currently seeking a Lead Facility Operator to perform groundwater treatment plant operational, maintenance, and laboratory duties as assigned by the Lead Operator. Responsible for ensuring that data collected and logged by the PLC is correct and accurate; perform sample collection, preparation, shipping to lab for analysis; regular mechanical maintenance on the equipment at the facility, such as daily inspections, checking oil levels, and changing seals and other replaceable components; and other maintenance as described in the OMM Manual. Will also perform some process control laboratory testing necessary to verify proper performance of the unit processes at the facility.

     

    Key Responsibilities

     

    This position will be responsible for assisting to maintain 24/7/365-day operations of the groundwater treatment facility, including but not limited to:

     

    • 8 hours/day, M-F
    • Respond within 1 HR to critical alarms by participating in an on-call schedule
    • During un-manned days at the facility such as weekends and holidays, be able to check the system remotely, and record required information daily
    • Maintain all log books, including but not limited to repairs, maintenance - routine and unexpected, tool list inventory, spare parts inventory, status log of all equipment returned to vendor/manufacturer for warranty repair, daily operations logbook
    • Good communication skills to be able to attend meetings with employer, client and third parties, and be able to direct vendors and subcontractors with setting clear expectations and communications plans
    • Be able to operate the system with understanding programmable logic controls (PLC)
    • Be able to follow instructions
    • Assist project staff with monthly reporting requirements in Excel and Word software programs
    • Be able to perform work duties in Level A-D personal protective equipment
    • Communicate plant shutdowns, permit violations, accidents, near misses, environmental releases/spills, security incidents and other emergencies immediately to project team as per site manuals within 24 hours of incident
    • Ability to stoop, kneel, climb and lift up to 50 pounds
    • Ability to drive large pick-up truck; ability to drive a trailer helpful
    • Ability to use hands to operate field equipment
    • Close, distance, and peripheral vision; normal auditory function
    • Must complete employment physical demonstrating ability to meet job requirements, including the ability to wear a respirator, as required
    • Completion of annual or bi-annual employment physical, as required

    Skills / Qualifications

    • 40-HR OSHA HAZWOPER Training
    • 8-HR OSHA Supervisor Training
    • 8-HR OSHA HAZWOPER Refresher Training
    • MD Class 2 or higher wastewater treatment operator license
    • Bachelor's degree or combination of technical education, PDH's, licensure, and certification and a minimum of 10 years of industry experience.
    • Expert knowledge and understanding of project scope and focus
    • Ability to set up, calibrate and maintain all laboratory and test equipment in an effective and safe manner
    • Responsible to direct others in procedural matters and in execution of the work orders
    • Attention to detail
    • Ability to work independently with little to no supervision
    • Demonstrated Leadership, ability to interact with Clients, and interpersonal skills
    • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record.
    • Must pass Health and Safety Training and Defensive Driving Courses upon hire

    Machines, Tools and/or Equipment Used

     

    • Field tools and equipment
    • Pickup truck and/or other motor vehicle(s); some locations require individual to have their own vehicle
    • On occasion, office equipment such as photocopy machine and fax machine
    • Personal computer and desk top software (e.g., MSOffice)

    Work Environment

     

    • Will be required to work at remote sites around construction equipment, drilling rigs, and environmental contamination
    • Overtime and overnight stays may be required
    • Fieldwork will require working with hazardous materials and in hazardous conditions

    Travel

     

    • May spend most or all of time in the field, including at sites remote from the office, as part of on-site team
