    Wood’s Heavy Civil Construction division has been an industry leader in heavy/civil construction. Headquartered in Hermiston, OR, Wood. Heavy Civil Construction specializes in heavy/civil construction and energy services including: large earthwork projects, concrete, pre-engineered metal buildings, site preparation, underground utilities, reclamation, pond construction, compressor/pump stations, gas processing facilities, WWT plants, tilt-up structures, sub stations, mass pours, slab on grade, and metal building supply and erection.  Handling the project from first estimate all the way through subcontracts being formalized.

    We are seeking a motivated and talented individual as an Estimator to join our Team. 

    Minimum Requirements Include:

    • The ability to take a scope of work and drawings, evaluate it, and have the knowledge to ask the right questions in order to complete a project cost estimate and proposal
    • Ability to make reliable predictions as it relates to cost and be comfortable estimating across all scopes of work
    • Must have a detailed oriented mind and experience in preparing detailed cost estimates
    • Have the ability to complete a presentation-worthy estimate/proposal package to present to operations and executive members of the business
    • Must have the ability to properly communicate with operations to hand a project over once a project is awarded
    • Must have knowledge and understanding of unit costs, production rates, and the factors that affect construction cost
    • Must have experience with: soliciting bids/quotes, communicating scope with bidders and vendors, evaluating subcontractor and vendor proposals
    • Make subcontractor award recommendations to the Project Manager and finalize subcontracts with subcontractors
    • Must be prepared to participate and often lead the preparation and presentation of cost / budget information to the customer/owner
    • Must be able to communicate, engage, and develop business with existing customers for repeat business


    Skills / Qualifications

    • Strong listening and communication skills
    • Creative and productive approaches on a project-by-project basis
    • Ability to identify, adapt to, and resolve complex issues
    • Effective participation in a team environment, with both external and internal teammates
    • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, estimating software (Pro Contractor, Heavy Bid, or similar), take-off software, project management software (View Point or similar), and scheduling software (Microsoft Project or similar)
    • 5+ years of experience as a construction estimator, preferably within Wood Heavy Civil’s core markets
