  • Overview / Responsibilities

    The Portland Maine office of Wood (Amec Foster Wheeler is now part of Wood) is seeking Architectural and Engineering Interns for this summer. Portland, Maine is one of the most livable cities in the US. Wood offers the technical challenges of projects located throughout the US within the relaxed environment of a small, vibrant city. Interns will work with multi-disciplinary project teams providing technical documentation, design, and drafting.


    The key elements we seek from students are good character, technical competency, motivation and the ability to work as a team.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Will work under the supervision of a Registered Architect or Engineer
    • Will assist in executing architectural/industrial projects, including the production of drawings, plans, studies, and construction administration
    • Projects include the design of industrial, commercial, federal and institutional facilities
    • Occasional field work to perform building survey assessments - Approximately 5% travel
    • Assist with general office tasks

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Completion of the first year of an accredited Architectural or Engineering degree program
    • Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on 4.0 scale
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills preferred
    • Ability to work efficiently and independently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to generate superior written work products
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with clients and staff in a team environment
    • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
    • Experience with AutoCAD required
    • Experience with Revit, Photoshop and Sketchup desirable
    • Must be a US citizen
    • Must pass drug test, fit for duty physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
