Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking an experienced Mid-Level Electrical Designer to join our Orlando, FL office and responsible for assisting electrical engineering designs for new facility construction and repairs, upgrades, and recommissioning of existing facilities, independently or as a member of a design team, including drawings, plans, specifications and studies. Individual will perform site energy assessments; power distribution design, analysis and lighting layouts and significant CAD work.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Design requirements will include simple calculations, specifications, quantity takeoffs, schedules, material submittal reviews, etc.
  • Types of projects may include primary and secondary electrical distribution, data retrieval, arc flash studies, transformers, wiring, interior electrical systems, communications, lighting, industrial controls and control systems, instrumentation and energy conservation
  • Executes facility electrical engineering designs in accordance with applicable codes and standards
  • Performs field assessments, site investigations, inspections, facility condition assessment and sustainable infrastructure assessments
  • Generates workload plans, design analyses, drawing plans, specifications, cost estimates and estimated construction schedule
  • Significant AutoCAD, Revit and MicroStation work

Skills / Qualifications

Required

 

  • State of Florida Licensed Professional Electrical Engineer (P.E.)    
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Must be experienced in performing electrical calculations and analyses for electrical system dynamics
  • Experience in performing construction designs for electrical distribution systems, data retrieval, arc flash studies, interior electrical, transformers, communications, lighting, industrial controls and control systems, instrumentation and energy conservation
  • Expertise through past experience in developing construction plans, specifications, cost estimates and schedules
  • Proven ability to manage and execute multiple project activities
  • Design experience with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Ability and willingness to travel with the team to project sites in the US and internationally; approximately 20% overnight travel at times to support ongoing projects
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain US passport required
  • Must pass drug test, background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

Preferred

 

  • Field/construction/contractor experience
  • Commercial lighting and energy audit background preferred
  • Industrial/Manufacturing experience

Physical Requirements

 

  • Able to do physically demanding field work such as climbing ladders, and carrying back packs with notes and data collecting equipment, etc.
  • Must be able to travel without limitations and perform unimpeded standing and walking in industrial and field environments for multiple hours per workday
  • Must be physically capable of performing work in H&S personal protective equipment
