    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a CAD Manager. The CAD Manager will develop means and methods for delivery of its contract documents. This includes, but is not limited to, development of BIM/CAD standards, working on and improving existing BIM/CAD execution for all phases of a project from conception to project closeout. The CAD Manager will assign appropriate resources for each project, review contract drawings against the industry, client and department standard practices for drawing quality. The Wood Portland, Maine Office is a multi-disciplinary science/engineering/architecture team of 150+ staff, located in one of the most livable cities in the US.  Wood offers the technical challenges of projects located throughout the US within the relaxed environment of a small, vibrant city. This individual will; possess the ability to work as an integral part of a project team, interface with both internal and external project team members, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams


    The Computer Aided Design (BIM/CAD) department is responsible for creating and designing new and existing structures using the latest in BIM/CAD technology. The department is responsible for developing and maintaining engineering designs using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD software for new and existing structures that may require a Building Information Modeling (BIM) process that integrates the model with data. BIM/CAD technology is used to streamline the engineering design processes and reduce errors, and with Autodesk’s Naviswork - clash detection and interferences. This department is responsible for coordinating with the various disciplines to ensure the accuracy of the model and drawings used for final design and construction documents.

    Key Responsibilities

    The selected candidate will manage a multi-disciplined engineering BIM/CAD design department providing engineering and architectural drawings, and models related to the design of new or existing facilities. The selected candidate will also be responsible for the administration of the BIM/CAD system, files, and standards. S/he will oversee the work of the departments designer/drafters, which are preparing design documents for compliance with standards. Design and drafting include Structural, Mechanical, Civil, Architectural, Environmental and Electrical design disciplines. S/he may also review and oversee staff review of designs prepared by outsourced engineering firms for the same types of facilities. 

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Over ten years of relevant work experience in BIM/CAD management, delivering engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Revit products
    • Experienced in the planning, layout, and details for the preparation of contract drawings
    • Strong managerial expertise and commitment to mentoring
    • Experience in developing, implementing and overseeing BIM standards and BIM execution plan
    • Deep understanding of CAD file management structures
    • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and Civil 3D applications and in training staff with these applications
    • Extensive knowledge of 3D products, such as Revit, is required to perform work in BIM, as well as other types of engineering software introduced in the industry
    • Ability to effectively develop and discuss CAD standards and compliance with staff including recognizing capabilities and needs of staff
    • Strong organizational, writing and communication skills
    • Demonstrates personal initiative, diligence, responsibility, leadership and flexibility
    • Ten years minimum of Architectural Engineering Construction (AEC) Industry experience
    • Experience in managing BIM/CAD software products including, but not limited to, incorporating new version releases, updates, subscription management, and customization of the products
    • Experience in content creation for AutoCAD and Revit such as, annotative blocks, lisp, template files, custom parameters; and Revit custom families using parametric, formula, nested and type catalogs
    • Highly proficient in modeling multiple disciplines (Structure, MEP & Architecture) within Revit environment
    • Must be a US citizen

    Physical Demands 

    • Majority of work is completed in office / administrative environment, may involve exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects, including the human body
    • Close, distance, and peripheral vision and normal auditory function
