Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is recruiting for an On-Call Botanist to report to our St. Louis, Missouri office. We invite qualified applicants with a Bachelor’s degree in the field of botany, wetland ecology or an equivalent discipline and at least 5 years direct work experience to apply for the position.

Key Responsibilities


This role will serve a critical function for implementation of permitting support and for the preparation of client deliverables. Travel throughout the Midwest is expected. This position will support on-going environmental planning and natural resources projects with the following key responsibilities:

 

  • Conduct field projects including flora surveys, habitat mapping, wetland delineations, and other research projects
  • Design field survey programs
  • Manage, organize, and analyze field data
  • Database management
  • Preparation of reports following survey effort
  • Maintaining sample integrity, chain of custody, and quality control for all data collection activities

Skills / Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have a BS or MS degree in in the field of botany, wetland science, wetland ecology or an equivalent discipline
  • 5 or more years of applicable experience performing botanical surveys
  • Good taxonomic knowledge of Midwest, Great Plains, and/or Southwest native flora, especially wetland flora
  • Experience working in adverse weather conditions, capable of working long, physically demanding and varied hours in remote locations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are desired
  • Experience with GIS, database management, Excel, MS Word, and other software also a plus
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
