Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Process & Energy has an exciting opportunity seeking an Start Up / Commissioning Manager in our Tucker, GA office and then subsequent project assignments.  This is a regular full-time position.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Commissioning and Start-Up planning and execution for large EPC power generation projects
  • Oversee the installation, testing and commissioning of Gas Powered combined cycle power plants and switchyards with in chemical plants
  • Oversight of 3rd party contractor testing
  • Develop procedures, system breakdowns, commissioning plans, scheduled and manage 3rd party contracts need to commissioning
  • Responsible for oversight of all system commissioning and performance testing
  • Work with vendors during the checkout, start up and commissioning Phase verification for synchronization to grid and assisted with performance testing
  • Understanding of turn-over package requirements and preparation of 3rd party testing is required
  • Responsible for developing and implementing procedures that satisfy the requirements of the organization
  • Implementation of procedures on individual projects

  •  Candidate must be willing to travel to job site locations

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of related construction work experience
  • Must have experience with preparation of commissioning and start up procedures in industrial construction
  • Experience with large EPC power generation projects and specifically combined cycle 2X1 power plant projects
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in commissioning & start up in the heavy industrial construction industry
  • Experience with large EPC power generation projects
  • Good writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of construction project practices and procedures

Education and Experience

  • A BS in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management a minimum of 15 years of practical experience

Communication Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Extensive Travel will be required for this role.  Employee will be located on the project site for a major portion of the project.
