  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking Skilled Laborers for a 5-month assignment at the Central Treatment Plant project in Kellogg, Idaho. We are seeking candidates local to the Kellogg, Idaho area but may consider candidates outside the local area, if needed.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Perform tasks involving physical labor at construction sites
    • May operate hand and power tools of all types: air hammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, small mechanical hoists, measuring equipment, and a variety of other equipment including testing equipment
    • May clean and prepare sites and operate small equipment such as skid steer loader, forklift or small excavator, dig trenches, install fencing, work near slurry trench, move hoses, operate pumps, set braces to support the sides of excavations, and clean up rubble, debris and other waste materials


    General Role Requirements


    • Control pedestrian and/or motor traffic passing near, in, or around work zones
    • Clean or prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards
    • Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, or adjustment of machinery, equipment, or materials
    • Load, unload, or identify building materials, machinery, or tools, distributing them to the appropriate locations, according to project plans or specifications
    • Move construction materials to locations where they are needed
    • Measure, mark, or record locations or distances
    • Mark reference labels or points on construction materials
    • Install above ground piping, operate plastic pipe welder, assist with installation of sewer, water, or storm drain pipes
    • Operate or maintain air monitoring or other sampling devices in hazardous environments
    • Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, or compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers, or rakes
    • Compact materials to create level bases
    • Mix ingredients
    • Mix, pour, or spread concrete, using portable cement mixers
    • Mix substances or compounds needed for work activities
    • Place materials into or on designated areas
    • Spread or collect samples of backfill, concrete or other aggregate mixtures
    • Tend pumps, compressors, or generators to provide power for tools, machinery, or equipment
    • Erect or dismantle shoring, braces, traffic barricades, ramps, scaffolding, or other temporary structures
    • Assemble temporary equipment or structures
    • Dismantle equipment or temporary structures
    • Provide assistance to craft workers as needed
    • Lubricate, clean, or repair machinery, equipment, or tools
    • Grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces such as metal or concrete using abrasive tools or machines
    • Position or dismantle forms for pouring concrete, using saws, hammers, nails, or bolts
    • Operate jackhammers or drills to break up concrete or pavement

    Skills / Qualifications

    • Ability to work in different types of personal protective equipment (half-face, full-face respirators, Tyvek, etc.) while performing various tasks/activities (e.g., climbing, walking, stopping etc.) in different work environments (e.g., cold, heat, sloppy conditions, etc.)
    • Physically able to perform job tasks, including lifting at least 50 lbs. alone
    • Currently certified or have ability to complete Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) worker qualification, and pass a HAZWOPER/respirator user medical exam
    • Motivated and willing to work as part of a team and perform multiple job functions
    • Ability to read and comply with project direction contained in project-specific plans and procedures
    • Must have a valid driver's license
    • Ability to work flexible schedule, including overtime, weekends, and night shifts, pending demand
    • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
