  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a multi-talented Project Controls Professional who is also skilled or interested in supporting other aspects (e.g., cost estimating, procurement, construction management) of design and construction projects. The Wood Portland, Maine Office is a multi-disciplinary science/engineering/architecture team of 150+ staff that offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects for a wide range of clients throughout the US.


    Key Responsibilities


    The project controls professional will support large remediation and construction projects. The position will provide project planning, scheduling, cost tracking, and project financial support for government and commercial projects. This position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects to address complex challenges executing the following roles/responsibilities:


    • Utilize project management systems to update and manage project budgets, commitments, expenditures and forecasts
    • Developing WBS and project coding structures
    • Developing and maintaining cost loaded schedules for construction related projects
    • Conduct project performance analysis using earned value techniques
    • Support reporting requirements for invoice submittals and monthly status reports
    • Maintain project budget and forecast spending plans
    • Downloading and analyzing project expenditures, commitments, and invoicing data
    • Provide proposal support to include schedules, reports, cost analysis, and other Primavera supporting functions
    • Contribute to the improvement of project controls tools within the office and company

    Skills / Qualifications

    Basic/Required Qualifications


    • AS in Business, Construction Management, or other related discipline
    • 2-5 years project controls/cost-schedule experience
    • Proficiency with Primavera
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (including Access)
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
    • Strong organizational abilities
    • Demonstrated consistency and attention to detail
    • Ability and willingness to travel - Anticipated travel expected to be less than 10% overnight travel; however, extended travel up to two weeks is possible at times
    • Adaptability and willingness to adjust to client needs
    • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if required
    • Must be a US citizen
    • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy

    Beneficial Qualifications


    • BS in Business, Construction Management, or other related discipline
    • Formal project controls training/certification
    • Experience in engineering consulting business
    • Construction or construction management experience
    • Cost estimating experience
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
