Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Process & Energy is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist  for our office in Tucker, GA


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform daily payroll operations for multiple projects in multiple states
  • Ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely
  • Process accurate garnishment calculations and compliance
  • Reconcile payroll prior to payment and validate confirmed reports
  • Understand proper taxation of benefits, etc.
  • Process accurate and timely weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and tax filing (Fed/Fica, FUI, SUI, State W/H, W-2, W-3, etc.)
  • Respond to various unemployment claims and employment verification requests
  • Key employee Direct Deposit info. into accounting system
  • Process per-diem and other allowance payments
  • Develop ad-hoc financial and operational reporting as needed
  • Prepare 401k contribution files for upload to Vanguard website
  • Process employee insurance forms
  • Handle phone calls and e-mails from field office staff and employees
  • Pull files for audit requests

Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in accounting, or a Bachelors degree in business with emphasis in accounting
  • 3-5 years experience in processing multi-state payroll
  • CPP preferred but not required
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Ability to handle confidential information in a discreet and professional manner
  • Highly skilled in using accounting systems; experience with Starbuilder would be helpful, but is not a critical qualification.
  • Excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy of work
