Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

The Nashville Infrastructure Engineering/Design Services team of Wood is searching for a Civil CAD Designer/Drafter. The successful candidate must have experience in preparation of civil/site development and construction document development plans/drawings on various infrastructure/civil engineering projects. Typical projects may include document preparation for grading/drainage, storm culverts, storm sewer systems, detention ponds, minor roadway design, sewer and water lines, and erosion control. Clients that we serve range from local/state/federal agencies, various commercial clients, and Class I railroads.

Skills / Qualifications

Candidate must:

  • Have a minimum of 2-year Associate Degree or completion of a technical school certified program, with a minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Civil CAD Designer/Drafter
  • Have additional drafting ability, such as Structural drafting and or processing topographic survey data
  • Have good working knowledge within CAD drawings as relates to:
    • Layer management & usage
    • Drawing scales as they relate to text, dimensions, lines, viewports, etc.
    • Plotting & plot scales, pen tables, etc.
    • Cross-Sections
    • Profiles
    • Easement Documents
    • Contouring/Grading
  • Have ability to perform some design with supervision
  • Have ability to meet job requirements to achieve deadlines and contribute time needed to do such
  • Have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Be familiar and proficient with various software, such as:
    • CAD software: AutoCAD and/or MicroStation (AutoCAD 2014 preferred; any version from 2012 to 2014 is satisfactory)
    • Strong knowledge of Civil3D
    • Business Software: MS Excel, Word, Outlook
