Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood's Portland Design Center is seeking a CADD technician specializing in Civil / Environmental design.  The Portland Design Center is a multi-disciplinary engineering / architecture team with 75 engineers, architects, surveyors, designers and support staff.  Wood offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects for a wide range of clients throughout the US from the relaxed environment of a small, vibrant city.

 

Projects include design and design-build for environmental / remediation, industrial, commercial, federal and institutional facilities and energy engineering.

 

Key Qualifications / Responsibilities

 

  • Work within multidiscipline design teams on wide variety of civil, civil / environmental and A / E projects, including site development, infrastructure, landfills, stream restoration, soil and groundwater remediation
  • Civil CAD / Design and CAD support relative to grading, infrastructure and stormwater design
  • Understanding of erosion and sediment control and stormwater design
  • Preparation of civil / environmental engineering construction and permitting drawings
  • Develop surface models, pipe networks and earthwork quantities using AutoCAD Civil3D
  • Understanding of coordinate geometry and land surveying
  • Drawing production and engineering support of documents for local, state and federal permits
  • Interact with coworkers, project teams and coordination with remote offices
  • Conduct work in a professional and ethical manner

Skills / Qualifications

  • AA degree, technical diploma or vocational training and 5+ years of experience preferred
  • Entry level candidates with some exposure to following requirements will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated advanced AutoCAD skills
  • Ability to prepare design engineering drawings and management digital files associated with CAD / Civil 3d
  • AutoCAD Civil3D knowledge and experience
  • Must be fluent in the latest versions of AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3d
  • Experience in Bentley Microstation is value added
  • Experience in GIS is value added
  • Demonstrated project setup skills and familiarity with standard industry practices
  • Ability to work with and take direction from Architects, Engineers and Project Managers
  • Must be familiar with National CAD standards and implement them on projects
  • Drafting / CAD knowledge of other disciplines is a plus, i.e. Architecture, Civil, Structural
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and prepare construction drawings, understanding of technical specifications is value added
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and organizational abilities
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and additional support tasks
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours if / as required
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.

Physical Demands

  • Majority of work is completed in office / administrative environment, may involve exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and / or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects, including the human body.
  • Close, distance, and peripheral vision and normal auditory function.

License / Certification Requirements

  • AA degree, technical diploma or vocational training and 5+ years of experience
