Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking a Construction Inspector/Materials Technician to join our team in Nashville, TN.


Key Responsibilities


Performs field and laboratory assignments under general supervision including: 

  • Quality assurance/control testing of construction materials (asphalt, concrete, soil, and rock) at various types of construction sites
  • Drafting daily field reports
  • Operating standard geotechnical testing equipment (field and laboratory)
  • Performing routine laboratory testing procedures

Skills / Qualifications

Candidate must:

  • Have combination of technical education with relevant industry certifications and 0 to 5 years of industry experience
  • Have good analytical skills and be able to work independently of supervision
  • Be familiar with performing geotechnical field and laboratory testing in accordance with ASTM / ASSHTO procedures
  • Be able to read/accurately interpret plans and specifications
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Be willing to travel on occasional short to moderate length trips out of town
  • Be willing to learn new skills and advance into career position
  • Be able respond to short notice requests with minimal guidance.
  • Be willing to work overtime and extended shifts in remote locations.
  • Be able to lift 50+ pounds repetitively
  • Have valid driver’s license and an excellent driving record
  • Be computer literate and familiar with operation of Microsoft Excel and Word

Preferred candidates:

  • Have ACI Field Testing Technician Level I
  • Have Nuclear Gauge Operation Certificate
  • Have TDOT or other industry certifications
