  • Overview / Responsibilities

    Wood Process & Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Construction Project Engineer with a strong background in EPC and Power for in-field assignments to work closely with Site Manager to facilitate project start up, execution, and closeout.


    Key Responsibilities


    • Support the Project Manager in project management requirements
    • Monitor to schedule the progress of the engineering and the design for the project
    • Development and management of work packages as assigned
    • Work with engineering and supply in the preparation of scope packages required to be issued for bid
    • Preparation of project approvals documentation associated with capital funding requests
    • Manage, forecast and track project cost
    • Create and update progress reports and forecasting
    • Self-perform and subcontract management including tracking and analyzing CPI’s, SPI’s and manpower needs to support project schedule and budget
    • Work with the project control for the project schedule development and monitoring
    • Strong ability to understand and familiarize with contract specifications,
    • Support analysis, negotiation and administration of purchase orders and subcontracts
    • Review / monitoring of project performance indicators (quantity tracking, productivity tracking, safety tracking)
    • Review, monitor, assess and update project change notices for project from supply chain and also for head contract
    • Work with project controls for the cash flow development and reporting
    • Participation in development of estimates
    • Monitoring of material and equipment deliveries, expediting / inspection
    • Monitoring / expediting of vendor data

    Skills / Qualifications

    • BS / BA degree or higher in engineering or construction related field
    • 10 years of experience managing mid-size to large projects in the Power, EPC and construction management areas including managing sub-contractors
    • Experience should include proven examples of the candidate’s ability to lead mid to large scale EPC project team to produce quality deliverables on time and within budget
    • Exposure to multi-disciplinary project environments
    • Ability to effectively manage within tight time frames
    • Interpersonal negotiating and relationship skills
    • Analytical decision making skills
    • Knowledge of safety, environment and I / R
    • Well-developed computer skills (Excel, WP, PowerPoint, Primavera)
    • Ability to effectively schedule work items for small projects
    • Engineering and / or project management skills demonstrated through evidence of qualification and/or certification from an engineering or project management related course
    • Intimate knowledge of prime commercial contract terms and conditions
    • Industrial knowledge of construction projects
    • High degree of literacy and communications skills (written and verbal)
    • Must pass drug screen and background check
