Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking an Entry Level Process Engineer to join our team in Houston, TX. This is an entry level engineering position. The Process Engineer performs assignments to develop an understanding of how to apply engineering practices and principles and to gain practical experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Creates and reviews basic design, drawings, specifications, etc.
  • Performs fundamental technical observations, analysis and modification of simple components
  • Has Assignments that typically involve individual project phases or projects of limited scope
  • Works with project team to provide assistance to other Engineering Disciplines and Commercial Group regarding process related information
  • Listens to others, learns, and asks questions or seeks assistance when necessary

Skills / Qualifications

  • BS in Chemical Engineering is required; Master’s degree is preferred
  • This is an entry level engineering position
  • Awareness and knowledge of trends and economic conditions affecting the technical field
  • Basic understanding of Engineering practices, design methods and calculations
  • Basic understanding of the engineering requirements to calculate and describe phase behavior, thermodynamic phenomena, fluid flow, and basic unit operations as well as basic properties of materials of construction; Ability to translate this understanding into drawings and schematics
  • Ability to comprehend, interpret and prepare applicable technical information and suggest design changes to ensure functional and cost effective results
  • Demonstrates awareness of policies and procedures that affect specific job assignments
  • Advanced computer skills with MS Office programs and familiarity with process simulation software
  • Oral and written communication skills with good vocabulary, good grammar and the ability to independently compose routine written communications
  • Ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports
  • Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily
  • Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule agreed with manager (may require working an adjusted work schedule based on project assigned and work overtime if warranted)
  • Willingness to comply with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures

  • While performing the duties of this job, is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
  • Is occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, or crouch
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
  • May need to drive, walk, climb stairs or ladders, and wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, protective foot gear, eye protection, other site-specific equipment)
  • Travel to client’s office, plant or site may be required
