Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is looking for a Project Accountant to organize, coordinate and process project invoices and other financial related operations and procedures.

 

The ideal candidate will be experienced in handling a wide range of project accounting related tasks and will be able to work independently with little or no supervision. This person must be exceedingly well organized, flexible and enjoy the administrative challenges of supporting a large number of project managers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in reviewing job profitability, accounting and billing for services under both time and material and fixed price projects.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with minimum supervision
  • Prepare various daily, weekly, monthly, and job-to-date reports and statements
  • Gather detail expense support, review and provide to project managers with draft invoices
  • Prepare draft invoices, obtain project manager approval, and generate and send final invoices to clients
  • Review costs to various collection levels such as account, unit and work order
  • Request and follow up on any time corrections or expense posting adjustment as needed
  • Compute discounts, make sales/use tax determinations for invoices issued
  • Write up and post journal entries
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction
  • Review revenue recognition on projects monthly

Skills / Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities for efficient use of time
  • A high level of attention to detail is critical
  • Proficient communications and organizational skills essential
  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping and/or accounting procedures and techniques

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 or 4 year degree in accounting preferred
  • 4+ years of experience performing role of project accountant or similar

Computer Skills:

  • Experience with MS Office Suite is required
  • Proficiency in various financial accounting software systems

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, plus demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and fellow employees

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and abstract variables in situations where only limited standardization exists

Work Environment:

  • All duties of the job will be completed in a normal office environment
