Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is currently seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. Works under general supervision to provide moderately complex test analytical support to environmental, engineering, field, laboratory, and / or design projects. Performs standardized assignments under supervision, including drafting simple standard reports, operating standard testing equipment or software of moderate complexity, and performing routine analysis procedures.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct tests and investigations in the laboratory to obtain data for use by engineering personnel in determining engineering properties of soil, bedrock, and construction materials
  • Prepare samples for testing, record data, and prepare summary reports
  • Perform analysis or calculations to check accuracy, applicability, and reasonableness of the testing data
  • Perform laboratory tests according to prescribed procedures, processes, and standards
  • Set up, maintain, and calibrate equipment

Additional Tasks and Responsibilities

  • May perform a variety of non-technical tasks designed to assist others in preparing for and / or conducting office, laboratory, or field activities
  • May assist in other non-technical projects as appropriate

Skills / Qualifications

Required

  • 0 - 3+ years of construction materials testing and / or laboratory experience either on commercial projects or transportation construction projects
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to prepare reports and documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic knowledge of Excel
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required
  • Must pass drug test, physical, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving (MVR) policy

Preferred

  • ACI laboratory certifications
  • FDOT (CTQP) laboratory certifications
