Job Description

Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking a Quality Control Manager to be responsible for the implementation and oversight of the on-site construction quality control activities at a project site in Kellogg, Idaho. The Quality Control Manager, must provide leadership to the CQC team, be proactive in the identification and resolution of issues, provide proper documentation of activities, and coordinate with other members of the project management team. The Quality Control Manager is responsible for the execution of the testing and inspections required to verify project quality requirements are achieved and as such must maintain a level of independence from the operational organization structure of the project. The Quality Control Manager reports to the Director of Environmental Construction and has an indirect reporting relationship with the project QA Manager. The QC Manager shall maintain communication with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Design Engineers, Health and Safety Manager, and Area Construction Superintendents as required for proper execution of responsibilities.

 

Key Responsibilities

Quality Control Manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Implement and maintain systems and programs necessary to accurately document the quality control process for on-going construction work
  • Verify that work is performed in accordance with issued for construction (IFC) drawings and specifications and contract requirements
  • Prepare and issue daily reports that document each work day’s quality control related activities including but not limited to testing performed, verifications, and any noted deficiencies and/or corrective actions (including required follow up requirements)
  • Issuance and tracking of all non-conformance reports and review and approval of associated corrective actions
  • Generation and preparation of responses to client identified deficiencies and coordination of responses through approval
  • Tracking of project quality records in accordance with Wood and project procedures; Update and maintain the Quality Control Plan as needed
  • Timely planning, coordination completion, and documentation of the three phase inspection process defined in the Quality Control Plan; Coordinate with Project Controls group and area construction supervisors as necessary to ensure proper completion of 3-phase inspections
  • Supervise work activities of the on-site laboratory including personnel support, review of test records and scheduling of testing
  • Coordinate with project management team to assure on-site staffing is sufficient to meet testing and inspection requirements
  • Assign personnel to provide adequate testing and inspection for daily activities
  • Maintaining open lines of communication with the defined reporting structure and key working relationships
  • Coordinate with submittals personnel and Project Controls to ensure submittals are received and approved in a timely manner to support on-going construction (Approved submittals are required as part of the Preparatory Phase meetings); Verify accuracy and maintenance of submittal register on a routine basis
  • Assign quality control personnel to conduct materials inspections for items received at the site and verify against approved submittals and/or specifications
  • Coordinate with the supply chain management personnel to facilitate efficient receipt inspections and proper storage of materials being delivered to site
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance personnel to promptly identify and resolve quality issues
  • Support scheduled audits and complete corrective actions required
  • Review and approval of subcontractor quality programs where applicable
  • Supervise and provide direction to quality team as needed to ensure completion of defined responsibilities
  • Maintain necessary certifications required to perform assigned responsibilities
  • Coordinate project related quality activities with client personnel; Establish and maintain key working relationships
  • Review submittals from subcontractors and vendors

Skills / Qualifications

  • 10 years of experience as Construction QC Manager on federal projects
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • CQM Certification
