Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Lead Automation/Control Engineer I & C Engineer with extensive experience in power and process Industrial facilities, Food, Chemicals, Biomass and Renewable industry. The Automation/Controls I &C Engineer provides technical and project engineering support and is responsible to ensure the successful delivery of automation, instrumentation and control system projects throughout their life cycle. This role will lead or support the delivery of automation/controls design and software projects for power and process Industrial facilities, Food, Chemicals, Biomass and Renewable industry client’s primary located United States.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provides application/control systems design and development for systems of varied complexity
  • Develops and evaluates process control system solutions and networks that meet stated requirements
  • Design and develop network diagrams, control panel Schematics, Wiring diagrams, cable schedules and plan views for IFB (Issue for Bid) and IFC(Issue for construction) documentation.
  • Prepare Automation/Control Equipment Specifications, Data Sheets, Purchase, Requisitions and Bid evaluations as required
  • Quality control of all deliverables within the scope of Automation/Controls
  • May lead a team or may be an expert in their field, providing ideas, opinions and advice to others
  • Comfortable with preparing and reviewing P&ID, Control Philosophy and Control Logic development
  • Proficient in practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations
  • Review Vendor Documents

Skills / Qualifications

  • A minimum of a BS or MS in Electrical or Chemical Engineering, from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience; Additional business management, project management or engineering training is beneficial
  • Prefer 3 to 10 years’ experience work experience in industrial controls and instrumentation systems
  • Previous experience (>3 years) in control systems design in the field of Consulting Engineering in North America is a plus
  • Material handling or process control design, development and troubleshooting experience
  • Control Systems Programming experience helpful but not required
  • Proficient working knowledge of the laws, codes and other federal, state and local regulations and guidelines, such as NEC, OSHA, NFPA 70E, etc. impacting the work in this position
  • Familiarity with standards and regulations used in North American Electrical power & process industries
  • Previous experience with power and process Industrial facilities, Food, Chemicals, Biomass and Renewable industry is a plus
  • Liaise with other project disciplines
  • Be flexible with the ability to manage change                
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with clients and staff in a team environment
  • Must be able to work independently or with minimal supervision and still meet commitment deadlines
  • Good organizational skills, writing skills, presentation and communication skills
  • Willing to travel up to 25%
